1920 – 2016

LEWISTON — Cecile A. Mercier, 95, of 102 Campus Ave., Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.

She was born in Auburn on Oct. 7, 1920, the daughter of the late Ludger and Eulalie (Ouellette) Gagne. She was educated in Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1938.

In 1943, she married Edmond “Chubby” Mercier and was later employed at Liberty Mutual Insurance until her retirement.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Doris P. Gagne of both Pompano Beach, Fla., and Lewiston; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edmond; and her brothers, Roland “Curly” Gagne, Louis P. Gagne, Rene Gagne and Bertrand Gagne.
