Alex Roy tagged the lone goal for the Saints (0-4).
Goalie Brandon Glover made one save for St. Dom’s, while Hawks (2-1-1) goalie Cam Cyr prevented four.
Morse 1, Spruce Mountain 0
JAY — Sheamus Mann scored the lone goal as Morse dredged a 1-0 win over Spruce Mountain in boys’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
Mann scored at the 18:05 mark of the first half for the Shipbuilders.
Goalie Andrew Shaw made 16 saves for the Phoenix in the losing effort.
Girls’ soccer
Leavitt 0, Maranacook 0, 2OT
READFIELD — Despite numerous chances to score, Leavitt and Maranacook played to a double-overtime scoreless tie in girls’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Hornets outshot the Black Bears 12-8.
Goalie Skyeler Webb made eight saves for Maranacook, while Allie Roux turned away six for Leavitt.
Freeport 4, St. Dom’s 0
AUBURN — Halfback Madison Wolf recorded two goals as Freeport sailed to a 4-0 victory over St. Dom’s in girls’ soccer action Saturday.
The Yachtsmen (4-1) scored two goals in each half.
The Saints (1-4) held tough against disciplined Freeport.
Goalie Abbie Castonguay made 16 saves for St. Dom’s, while Kathryn Caldwell defended three to earn the win in net for Freeport.
Monmouth 7, Wiscasset 1
MONMOUTH — Senior forward Haley Fletcher and junior forward Tia Day each scored a pair of goals as Monmouth galloped to a 7-1 triumph over Wiscasset in girls’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Mustangs (7-0) applied heavy pressure and forced the offense throughout, taking a 4-1 lead at halftime.
Forward Arie Mills scored the lone Wolverine (3-3-1) goal in the first half.
Goalie Lily Souza made 16 saves for Wiscasset, while Katie Harris repelled two shots to earn the win in net for Monmouth.
Yarmouth 4, Gray-NG 1
YARMOUTH — Four different players scored as Yarmouth drifted past Gray-New Gloucester 4-1 in girls’ soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Clippers (4-0-1) tallied three goals in the second half.
Emma Woods scored the Patriots’ (3-2) only goal in the second half.
Goalie Chelsea Davis made 14 saves for Gray-New Gloucester. Meredith Lane thwarted two shots to earn the win in net for Yarmouth.
High school field hockey
Mt. Blue 7, Cony 1
FARMINGTON — Three players scored a pair of goals as Mt. Blue cruised to a 7-1 victory over Cony in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.
Sam Ellis, Adelle Foss and Hannah LeClair posted goals in the first half as the Cougars took a 3-0 lead at the midpoint.
Molly Sillsby scored an unassisted tally in the second half for the Rams to spoil the shutout.
Goalie Jacqueline Carlton made six saves for Cony, while Erika McArthur fended off nine shots to earn the win in net for Mt. Blue.
Poland 2, Freeport 1
FREEPORT — Freshman Olivia Bell scored the eventual game-winning goal early in the second half as Poland held on for a 2-1 triumph over Freeport in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.
Brianna Doucette scored the first goal for the Knights (3-2-1) less than one minute into the contest. Bell scored the second goal for Poland by tipping the ball on a long drive outside the circle by Doucette.
Natalie Anderson cut the Poland lead in half for the Yachtsmen (3-2-1) with 11:23 remaining in the second half in a scramble in front of the net.
Goalie Megan Seymoure made 14 saves for Freeport. Ashton Sturtevant warded off six shots to earn the win in net for Poland.
St. Dom’s 4, McAuley-Waynflete 0
AUBURN — Callie Samson recorded two goals and an assist as St. Dom’s seized a 4-0 victory over McAuley-Waynflete in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.
The Saints (3-2-1) outshot the Flying Lions (0-3) by a margin of 46-1. Kylie Leavitt and Hannah Trottier-Braun rounded out the scoring for St. Dom’s.
McAuley-Waynfle goalie Charlotte Dean staved off a barrage of 42 shots in the matchup. Abby Slonina only needed to make one save to earn the win in net for St. Dom’s.
Men’s soccer
Tufts 3, Bates 0
MEDFORD, Mass. — Sophomore goalkeeper Robbie Montanaro made 11 saves, but Bates failed to find the back of the net in a 3-0 loss to Tufts in men’s soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats (2-2-1) kept the match very close for the first 82 minutes. But, the Jumbos (1-2-1) scored a pair of late goals to secure the three-point victory.
Bates recorded their first shot in the 19th minute of action, but the Jumbos blocked sophomore Drew Parsons’ shot attempt.
Lyndon State 4, UMaine-Farmington 2
LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The University of Maine at Farmington surrendered three first half goals and could not rebound as Lyndon State College collected a 4-2 win in NVAC men’s soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Hornets jumped out to an early lead in the first six minutes as Devin Cowan scored twice. Abukar Hasson added another goal in the 13th minute.
The Beavers (2-3) got on the scoreboard before the break with an unassisted goal by freshman Nick Marshall, his first career goal.
UMaine-Farmington finished out its scoring when Kyle Dugas found the back of the net for his first career goal late in the second half.
Women’s soccer
Tufts 5, Bates 2
MEDFORD, Mass. — Olivia Amdur and Brigid Quinn netted goals in the second half, but a slow start hurt Bates in a 5-2 loss to Tufts in women’s soccer action Saturday afternoon.
The Jumbos (3-0-1) tallied three goals in the first half and an early goal in the second to jump out to a 4-0 lead.
The Bobcats (2-3) got on the board in the 60th minute. Senior Hannah Graves delivered a corner kick into the box that first-year Adena Bernot headed to Amdur, who found the back of the net for her third goal of the season.
Junior Hannah Behringer found Quinn for her second goal of the season in the 76th minute to cap the scoring for both teams in the match.
UMaine-Farmington 10, Lyndon State 0
LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The University of Maine at Farmington charted goals from seven different players in a 10-0 blowout win over Lyndon State College in women’s soccer action Saturday afternoon.
Bridget Humphrey, Ashley Gleason and Lydia Roy scored multiple goals for the Beavers (2-3).
The Beavers outshot the Hornets (2-4) by a margin of 33-2, and won the corner kick battle, 8-2.
Goalies Kiana Thompson and Leah Burbine split time to earn the shutout win for UMaine-Farmington.
College field hockey
Tufts 2, Bates 0
MEDFORD, Mass. — The Bates field hockey team got 11 saves from the goalkeeper combination Adelae Durand and Alyssa Souze, but fell 2-0 to Tufts in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.
The Jumbos (3-0) outshot Bates 20-3 on their way to victory.
Down 1-0, the Bobcats (2-2) tallied their first shot at the 31:14 mark when sophomore Jessie Moriarty fired a shot that missed wide of the net.
In the 42nd minute, Moriarty tallied her second shot of the match. But Tufts goalie Emily Polinsk picked up her first save of the afternoon.
