PARIS — Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education has announced classes beginning the week of Oct. 3.
Cooking Matters for Adults: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, for six weeks. Sarah Carter will teach attendees how to shop, cook and eat on a budget. There will be hands-on practice with a chef to create healthy meals at home. The course is intended for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients, but is open to all. It’s free.
Maine Driving Dynamics: 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, for two evenings. Naples will cover collision-avoidance techniques and safety tips to help become a better driver. Those completing the course will receive a three-point credit on their license record. Cost is $40; $10 for 65 or older.
Energy Health Systems: Introduction to Polarity Therapy: 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4. Polarity therapy works to restore balance and wholeness by utilizing gentle touch to direct the body’s healing energy to specific areas in the body. Instructor Emily Ecker will integrate this with take-home techniques including “Polarity Pathway,” which can bring relaxation, balance and a greater sense of well-being.
Chinese Language Beginner: 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4 for four weeks. Han Libby will teach attendees to speak, read and write the Chinese language. They will learn about an old region that plays a large part in the world. Cost is $26.
Chinese Calligraphy: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4 for four weeks. Han Libby will teach traditional Chinese characters from 100 years ago. Students will learn to write using a brush on rice paper. Cost is $26.
Financial Wellness: 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4 for four weeks. Christopher Wood will teach attendees financial understanding for everyday situations. Topics include: building a budget, basic credit understanding, how to build credit and organizing money. Class is free.
Fitness & Wellness: Time for Me: 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4 for eight weeks. Dee Snow will teach conduct this class, which is geared toward those who have been told by their doctors to be more active and lose weight. Cost is $74.
Hospice Volunteer Training: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, for seven weeks. Kyla Greenwood will teach attendees to be the person who makes a difference. Course covers history of hospice, grief/loss and how to help someone facing end-of-life issues. Class is free.
Past Life Regression: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6. Susan Kane will take attendees through a guided journey through their memories to an earlier time or previous life. Those attending should bring a mat, pillow or blanket to lie comfortably on the floor. Cost is $29.
