1936 – 2016
LEWISTON — Julia Eva Bunker Blaisdell, 80, died Saturday, Sept. 17, at Montello Manor Nursing Home in Lewiston where she resided in recent months.
Born in Kingfield on March 11, 1936 to J. Russell and Barbara Dunton Bunker, she graduated from Kingfield High School in 1954 and received her degree from Central Maine General School of Nursing in 1959.
She married William Newell Blaisdell in 1963 and they made their home in Auburn, where they raised two daughters, Barbara and Judy.
Julia worked at CMG (now CMMC) as a delivery room nurse for the majority of her 40-year career. Her outside interests included art with her knitting, quilting and appliquee work. She was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping up with current events and the weather. She was an astute observer of people and dearly loved her many dogs and a cat through the years.
She is survived by daughter, Barbara and husband, David Hendren, of Randolph; brother, James Bunker and wife, Marlene, of North Carolina; several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews; and a large group of life-long friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Billy in 2004; and daughter, Judy in 2009.
She was a member of Court Street Baptist Church and in recent years attended and was cared for by East Auburn Baptist.
The family thanks the dedicated and caring staff of Montello Manor and Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice. We are grateful to her many faithful friends who brought her great joy with their regular visits. Special thanks go to Marilyn and Pete Lugner, Esther and Cory Newendyke and daughters, Jenn and Jess for their years of loving and faithful support that allowed Julia to remain in her Auburn home as long as possible.
