NSF awards grant to Bates College

WASHINGTON — The National Science Foundation recently awarded $127,858 in grant funding to Bates College to support eyewitness identification research.

The money will support a study examining the brief social interactions that affect eyewitness decisions in an effort to reduce identification errors in the criminal justice system.

Calvary rummage sale Sept. 30

LEWISTON — The Calvary United Methodist Church will hold its annual fall rummage sale from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at 59 Sabattus St.

Attendees should use the Bartlett Street garden entrance.

Food pantry seeks donations

AUBURN — The High Street Congregational Church Food Pantry has ongoing needs for the following items: peanut butter, canned vegetables, soup, canned pasta, canned meats, canned fruit, dry cereal, baking items, soup, crackers and toilet paper.

Auburn United Methodist Church collects items for the pantry. Donations may be brought to 439 Park Ave.

Homeschooling Meet-Up at APL

AUBURN — Area homeschoolers are invited to meet other homeschooling parents and their children from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays in the Maggie Trafton Program Room at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St. 

This informal group will be led by Christina Helms, a local homeschooling parent. This will be an opportunity for children to interact with other children and for parents to find support from each other.

Lobster clambake for seniors.

AUBURN — Auburn Recreation Seniors Center will serve a lobster and clambake for seniors 55 and older from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Hasty Community Center, 48 Pettengill Park. 

Tickets may be purchased at the Auburn Recreation Department for $25.

Vendors sought for fair

LEWISTON — Russell Park Rehabilitation & Living Center will hold its annual Holiday Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11 and 12.
