1948 – 2016
LEWISTON — Rita M. Koss, 68, formerly of Mechanic Falls, died in Lewiston on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the d’Youville Pavilion, where she has been a resident since 2012.
Born in Lewiston on March 19, 1948, she was the daughter of Julien A. and Antoinette Dubois Desrosiers. Educated in local schools, she worked for a few years at Hillcrest Farms, and then spent many years working in the cafeteria at Bates College prior to her retirement. On August 11, 1995, she married Leo Koss of Mechanic Falls. Rita enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, cooking for her family and friends, visits to Bailey Island and volunteering at the Good Shepherd Food-Bank, but her greatest enjoyment came from time spent with her large extended family.
Besides her loving husband, Leo of Mechanic falls, she is survived by two sons, Joseph Chabot III and Robert Chabot, both of Auburn; two daughters, Lisa and husband, Frank Main, of Boothbay Harbor, and Lena and husband, Sean Prince, of Warner Robins, Ga.; seven brothers, Roger and wife, Theresa, of Lewiston, Julien D. of Warner Robins, Ga., Lucien and wife, Ruie, of Auburn, Roland of Sabattus, Maurice and wife, Donna, of Lewiston, Daniel of Lewiston, and Donald of Auburn; three sisters, Doris Foley of Minot, Lucille and husband Roger Violette of Auburn, and Claire Plouffe of Auburn, fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
