Monday, Sept. 26

AUBURN — City Council workshop, 5:30 p.m. in the council chamber on the second floor of Auburn Hall. The entire meeting will be an executive session on hiring a new city manager and reviewing candidate resumes.

LEWISTON — Finance Committee meeting, 5:30 p.m. in the Administrator’s Conference room on the bottom floor of City Hall. Agenda topics include reviewing bids for a sewer project, two demolitions, City Hall roof work and painting the Webber Avenue water tank dome.

LEWISTON — School Committee meeting, 6:40 p.m., Dingley Building. Agenda: certificate of appreciation for science teacher Nicole Goyette, approval of emergency response plan for schools, review of the process for superintendent’s evaluation.

Tuesday, Sept. 27

LEWISTON — City Council workshop, 6 p.m. in the council chamber on the bottom floor of City Hall. Councilors will discuss realigning lanes on Sabattus Street.

AUBURN — Talk about “The Knitting Brigades of WWI, 2 p.m., Auburn Public Library, how in 1917 people responded to a call by the American Red Cross for volunteers in every state to knit wool into socks, sweaters, hats and bandages for soldiers.

Thursday, Sept. 29

AUBURN — Property tax appeal hearing with the city’s Assessment Review Board, 6 p.m. in the City Council Chamber of Auburn Hall. At issue is a hearing regarding the city versus Auburn Cascades.

LEWISTON — Author talk, Catherine Bergeron-Bergeron on her recently published book, “Our Place in Line: a Franco-American Odyssey,” 6 p.m., Lewiston Public Library, book offers exploration of French immigration to North America. 

Friday, Sept. 30

Final Art Walk of the season along Lisbon Street in Lewiston and along Main and Court streets in Auburn. The event lets local storefronts and offices convert into art galleries, featuring works by local and regional artists. Live music and other performances happen along the way. The walk is free and open to the public.

LEWISTON — Somali singer-songwriter Hadith Bani-Adam and percussionist Ness Smith-Davidoff will perform with Greg Boardman, 5 p.m., at the Gazebo in Kennedy Park, free.

AUBURN — Special plaque unveiling and dedication of Festival Plaza at 7 p.m. on Main Street. The plaque describes the plaza’s architecture and what it represents.
