NORWAY — The Western Maine Art Group board of directors has elected Melanie Tornberg of Bethel as its new president.
Tornberg is a former pupil of Lajos Matolcsy and Lee Bean, the group’s founders. She has a degree in fine arts from the University of New Hampshire.
She’s a painter who exhibits her work locally at the Main Street Gallery at 426 Main St. She recently won first prize for original art at the Mahoosuc Land Trust’s third annual Your Backyard exhibition in Bethel.
She said she hopes to continue outgoing president Tami Prescott’s work in building a srong team of dedicated members and continuing to provide local artists with opportunities to share their work.
