1942 – 2016

NORWAY — Woodrow F. “Woody” Irish, 74, of South Paris, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 22, at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway with his family at his side.

Woody was born in Biddeford on March 8, 1942, a son of Ormond W. and Marion A. (Davis) Irish Sr. He was educated in Pownal schools and worked at Bath Iron Works for over 35 years as a welder and in maintenance.

He married Deborah J. Norton in 1975 and they made their home in South Paris for over 40 years.

Woody was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Woody leaves behind his two sons, Scott Irish of South Paris and Butch Irish and his wife, Lisa, of Greene; three daughters, Heather Fickett and her husband, Jonathan, of South Paris, Valerie Irish of Lewiston, and Maureen Ray and her husband, Bert, of Greene; his brother, Ormond Irish Jr. of Winthrop; a sister, Beverly Agara of Westbrook; nine grandchildren, Jazmynn Irish, Noah Irish, Brooke Brady, Landyn Wright, Nevaeh Wright, Joshua and Matthew Irish, and Angelina and Kendra Ray; and three great-grandchildren, Madisyn Bean, Lyla Ray and Nolan Brady.

He is predeceased by his wife, Deborah, who died Feb. 12, 2016; three brothers, Donald Irish, Richard Irish and Vincent Irish; and a sister, Glenice.
