1931- 2016

BETHEL — Amy R. Andrews died at her home in Bethel on Saturday, Sept. 24, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in South Freeport on Jan. 13, 1931, the daughter of Earle and Eva Cram Rogers. She attended schools in Brownfield, Fryeburg and West Paris. She graduated from West Paris High School in 1948. She worked at Norway National Bank.

In 1950 she married Earl Andrews in West Paris and they recently celebrated their 66th anniversary. They lived in Orono while Earl finished school at the University of Maine. They later lived in District Heights, Md., Abington, Mass., Oxford and Norway.

She was the mother of six children, Cynthia of Whitman, Mass., Alfred of Oak Hill, Fla. and Andover, Martha of Methuen, Mass., Bruce of Bethel, Sharon of Bethel and Jeffrey of Norway.

She is survived by her husband, Earl of Bethel; all of her children; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Amy was an active member of the West Paris Grange, where she served as secretary for many years, and later became a member of the Norway Grange. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Abington, Mass., where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was chairwoman of the Mission Committee. She was later a member of the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church, where she taught and sang. She loved to sing with the choir and did so for more than 50 years.

Amy’s other activities included being active in Christian Women United, where she was program chairwoman and president. Amy worked at Colony House Nursing home in Abington, Mass. After retiring to Maine, she volunteered in the activities department at Market Square Nursing Facility and at Norway Nursing and Rehabilitation Home. Amy was a lifelong gardener and loved growing and tending her flower gardens.

Amy was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Evelyn Havernin; a brother, Richard; a great-granddaughter; and three great-grandsons.
