1920 – 2016
RUMFORD — Mrs. Juliette A. White, 96, died Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Rumford Community Home. She was formerly of Frye and East Andover.
Born in Byron on July 20, 1920, she was the daughter of Albert and Yvonne (Thibodeau) Parent. She attended schools in Frye and Roxbury and worked at Swain’s Dowell Mill.
Juliette was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior St. Athanasius – St. John Church in Rumford. In March of this year she was awarded the Boston Cane from the Town of Andover, honoring her as its eldest citizen. She was an avid Red Sox fan, she loved music, dancing and knitting, and made many hats that she donated to the local elementary schools.
Juliette was married in Mexico on Dec. 28, 1941, to Norman H. White and together they celebrated 56 years. He died in Rumford on Aug. 29, 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Delano and her husband, Wayne, of East Andover and Juliette Slack of Fort Wayne, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Troy, Lynne, Michael, Denise, Bobby, Vincent, Kim, and Kristen; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Irene Burdelak.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Norma Plantier; two brothers, Patrick and Lionel Parent; a sister, Betty Dubois; two sons-in-law, Robert Slack and Richard Plantier; and a grandson, Thomas Slack.
