PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce is re-branding its annual Business Showcase this year as the Business & Community Expo.
According to a written statement from the chamber’s event chairman, Jim Bouchard, “this name change is designed to welcome both the business community and the general public. Our goal is to showcase our area businesses and organizations to the Oxford Hills community and beyond.”
The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School on Main Street.
The chamber will host special events and demonstrations throughout the day, including the student-built Aspire Higher race car, a look at Mt. Abram’s solar energy improvements, and a winter trip giveaway.
Lil’ Leapin’ Lizard will also provide entertainment for children so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The expo will provide visitors with networking and marketing opportunities and will feature booths from more than 70 business and community organizations in Oxford and Androscoggin counties, among other places.
Although the name has been changed, the event will still include the popular Chili & Chowder Tasting contest, featuring competitors from several area restaurants. The winner is chosen by the number of visitor ballots dropped into bins at each serving table.
On the event day, the Expo will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
The expo will open to the public at 10 a.m., with the chili and chowder event scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Doors close at 2 p.m.
Exhibit space is available. Cost for a standard space is $75 for chamber members; a double space is $150. For non-chamber members, the standard cost is $100; double space is $200.
The space includes an 8-foot covered table, two chairs and power, if needed.
Preference on location and booth availability will be given to chamber members.
