Free car care clinics

AAA is hosting free car care clinics this week.

Automotive professionals will perform pre-winter vehicle check-ups that include checking tires, fluid levels, windshield wipers, the battery, charging system, brakes, lights, belts and hoses.

Auburn: Thursday, Sept. 29, AAA Branch Office, Shaw’s Plaza, Center Street.

Brunswick: Friday, Sept. 30, AAA Branch Office, Merrymeeting Plaza, 147 Bath Road.

Auburn Art Club to meet

AUBURN — The Auburn Art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the Park Avenue Methodist Church.

The hostesses for this meeting are Linda Lelansky, Lucky DiBello, Yvonne Gross, Evelyn Larrbee and Lucille Oldham.

Catherine Bergeron will be the featured speaker. She will share her recently written book titled “Our Place in Line,” which chronicles her family’s Franco-American Odyssey.

Retired Educators’ Association to meet

AUBURN — The Androscoggin Retired Educators’ Association will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Park Avenue Methodist Church on Park Avenue for its annual scholarship auction.

Those attending should bring items to be auctioned such as baked goods, homemade fudge, books, gift baskets, crafts or other items in good condition by 9:45 a.m. so they may be placed on the auction table.

The association will also collect nonperishable food items or money to be donated to a local food bank.

All retired educators from any place are welcome, including bus drivers, custodians, cafeteria workers, education technicians and principals.

Lunch will be served by members of the church. The cost of lunch is $11. Reservations must be sent by Oct. 4 to Pat and George Jacobs, 4 Sprague’s Mill Road, Greene, ME 04236.
