BIDDEFORD — Maine State Police have charged a New York City man in a fatal shooting in Biddeford.

Police say 20-year-old Timothy Ortiz of Brooklyn was charged with murder on Friday. He’ll make his first court appearance on that charge on Monday in Superior Court in Alfred.

He’s accused of killing of 30-year-old Jonathan Methot of Biddeford this week.

Police say Ortiz has been held on a New York probation violation that’s unrelated to the shooting, when he was taken into custody in Portland. He was charged with murder on Friday when he appeared in court on the probation violation.

It wasn’t immediately known if Ortiz had a lawyer.
