LEWISTON — The Mite Development Program (ages 8 and under) is the fundamental stage of the L/A Jr. Fighting Spirit youth hockey organization (LAJFS). Creating a positive, healthy environment for the youngest members of LAJFS is essential to a player’s long-term participation, growth and successful experience in hockey. The Mite Development Program will focus on individual age appropriate skill development for all players based on USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM).

The objectives of the L/A Jr. Fighting Spirit Mite Development Program are: To provide an enjoyable introduction to hockey for players of all abilities. Skill Development: Edges, Skating mechanics, Transitional skating, Backwards, Crossovers. Game situations and concepts- learn how to utilize skating and puck skills in a game setting. Stress participation, fun and individual skill development. Provide a healthy environment for fun and learning.
