1934 – 2016
LEWISTON — Violet May, 82, a longtime resident of Leeds, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, with her loving family by her side.
She was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Monmouth, the daughter of the late Reuben Wing and Dora (Burns) Wing. Violet attended school in West Peru and Rumford. In Auburn on July 17, 1993, Violet married Benjamin May of Leeds following a long relationship that spanned 24 years.
Violet worked at various nursing homes in the area and packed apples at Chick Orchards, but mostly devoted her time to raising her family and caring for her home. She loved going to their camp in Dover-Foxcroft and enjoyed fishing and deer and turkey hunting. She also liked going to the Lobsterman’s Wharf in Boothbay and shopping at Wal-Mart and Big Al’s.
Violet is survived by her husband, Benjamin May, of Leeds; her children, Pat LaPlante and husband, Arthur, of Leeds, Bruce Robertson and wife, Barbara, of Leeds, John Robertson and wife, Cindy, of Leeds, twins, Leslie Tapley and Lisa Jordan and Lisa’s husband, Rick, all of Hillsboro, N.H., Fred Robertson and wife, Diane, of Cheyenne, Wyo., David Robertson of Leeds and Dennis Robertson of Greene; her brother, Fred Miller and wife, Barbara, of Dover Foxcroft; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; stepfather, Glen Miller; her brother, Harold Wing; and her son, Kenneth Robertson Jr.
