1928 – 2016
LEWISTON — Barbara A. Murray, 87, of Sarah Frye Home, Auburn, died Saturday, Oct. 1, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after a three-day stay with her family by her side.
Born in Lewiston, on Oct. 2, 1928, a daughter of the late Marshall and Edna Wallingford Yokell, she was educated in Lewiston schools. She was married to Henry J. Ouellette, who died in 1965. She later married Paul R. Murray, who also died with family by his side in 2015. Barbara was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. She worked as a stitcher at Arnold Moccasin, Supreme Slipper and retired from St. Mary’s Hospital laundry department.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. Our mom will be remembered for the unconditional love that she had for all of her family and for her witty sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Lane and husband, Ronald, of Sabattus; her sons, David J. Ouellette and wife, Lisa, and Daniel K. Ouellette of Lewiston; her grandchildren, Amber Bissonnette and husband, Matthew, Jessie Castonguay, Christopher Spencer and wife, Carol, Shawn Spencer and wife, Stephanie, and William Spencer and wife, Donna; her seven great-grandchildren, and her sister, Joan Willette of Wales.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Sarah Frye Home for all of the compassion and support they provided.
