1959 – 2016

AUBURN — David Nason, 57, of Auburn died Tuesday morning, Oct. 4, at home surrounded by his loving family, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born Feb. 1, 1959, in Lewiston, a son of the late Theodore and Dorothy (Parker) Nason. He attended school in Auburn, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1977.

David was a lifelong resident of the family homestead at 7 Northern Ave., in Auburn, which he also helped maintain. After graduating from high school, he worked in his father’s business, Ted Nason Plumbing and Heating, which operated out of the family home. He ultimately took over the family business as sole proprietor. The legacy of the family homestead, a 116-year-old farmhouse, and the family business, were important to him; and he shared that passion with his much-loved family, friends and customers. David enjoyed everything to do with the great outdoors, most especially hunting and fishing, and loved spending time with his family, who loved him very much. He was the ultimate go-to fix-it person for family, friends and customers alike. He was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing humorous stories with others.

David had a real connection with children and dogs, especially his dogs Dexter and JJ. His relationship with Doris Nadeau, his partner of nine years, brought with it the joy of being Dad to her youngest daughter, Amanda, and Grampy to her grandchildren.

He is survived by his life partner, Doris Nadeau, her daughter Amanda Nadeau and partner, Patrick Buzza, of Auburn; daughter Jenny Gagne and fiancé, Rob Archer, of Ohio; daughter, Jessica Lovering and her husband, Mark, of Litchfield; and son, Jake Gagne and partner, Vicky Cloutier, of Wales; brothers, Dennis LeSuer and Andrew Nason and his partner, Marcel Caron, all of Auburn; brother, Matthew Nason and his wife, Paula, of Turner; sister, Susan Dionne and her husband, Daniel, of Auburn; and sister, Sally Nason of Cape Elizabeth; nephews, Jameson Dionne and Nicholas Nason; nieces, Allyson and Megan Nason; and Doris’ grandchildren, Natalee, Andrew, Liam, Lydia and Lilly.

Friends and family are invited to share their memories and offer their condolences by visiting David’s online guest book at www.thefortingroupauburn.com.
