FRYEBURG — A police officer on bike patrol near the Fryeburg Fair is recovering from injuries sustained after he was hit by a car Tuesday.

Officer Joshua Grzyb was riding with another officer at about 1:35 p.m. Tuesday near the main gate of the fairgrounds at Main and Ballard streets. Grzyb was hit by a  2013 Range Rover Evoque traveling about 15 mph, according to a statement released Thursday morning by police chief Joshua Potvin.

Fryeburg Rescue took Grzyb to Memorial Hospital in Conway, New Hampshire. Grzyb was later released with minor arm and leg injuries, according to Potvin.

Potvin wrote he expected Grzyb to return to work soon.

The driver, a 49-year-old woman from Byron, was making a right hand turn onto Main Street from Ballard Street when Grzyb was hit, according to Potvin.

“The driver has been charged with failing to stop at a stop sign,” Potvin wrote in the statement.
