AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library has announced its 4th annual College Night will be held 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in the Androscoggin Community Room.

The program for teens and their parents is designed to provide information early in the college process.

The evening will begin with a panel discussion facilitated by Maggie Davis of College for ME-Androscoggin.

Panelists will include representatives from Bates College, Central Maine Community College, Kaplan University, Maine College of Art, Maine College of Health Professions, University of Maine in Orono and University of Southern Maine. A representative from the Finance Authority of Maine will also sit on the panel.

Topics for discussion will include:

• Appropriate courses to take in middle and high school;

• Thinking ahead about careers;

• Costs of college (FAFSA, FAFSA Forecaster);

• Types of colleges and degrees; and

• The college application process, including the Common Application.

If time permits, this part of the evening will be followed by a brief question-and-answer session.

The second part of the evening will feature a college fair format, featuring admissions representatives with specific information about school and programs offered.

In addition to the colleges represented on the panel, these additional schools will be at the library for the college fair: Husson University, St. Joseph’s College, Thomas College, University of Maine at Farmington, University of Maine at Machias and the University of New England.
