The Fitness Connection is on the move, but not to the former Sampson’s building at 77 Bates St. The club has a new owner who plans to lease the former Northwood Twin Cinema building on Main Street. City officials last spring had heralded then-owners Dan and Diane Carpenter’s decision on the Bates Street location as helpful to the revitalization of downtown Lewiston. But Michael LeBlanc, who has owned Silver Gym for four years and bought the Fitness Connection in September, said Thursday that Northwood Park offers more parking and better visibility than Bates Street. “I like the downtown area,” the Lewiston native said. “I wish there was a way I could do something like that, but in this economy it would be like trying to do the impossible.”
