1922 – 2016
NORWAY — Roger W. Gammon, 94, of Sumner passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Stephens Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born in Hartford on May 8, 1922, the son of Charles Percy and Nellie Thurlow Gammon. He married Beryl M. Davis and lived in East Sumner. He had been employed at the Rumford Paper Mill for 39 years. He loved to go to dances, chicken BBQ’s and family reunions. He hosted the Gammon/Davis reunion up to camp for many years. He enjoyed farming and vegetable gardening, as well as fishing and hunting. He was an animal lover and a good horse handler. His family meant the world to him.
He is survived by his children, Reginald and partner, Ann May, Kenneth and wife, Diane, Nicole Gammon, Richard “Rick” and Felicia, Larry and Nadia and Karen and Larry Dan; grandchildren, Angela, Wendy, Aaron, Tyler, Nadyne, Danielle, Cindy, Jess and Brent; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Dot Hiscock; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Beryl; and brothers and sisters, Carl, Ella, Alfred, Alfreda, Ada, John, Marshall and Clint.
