1940 – 2016

LEWISTON — Robert Valentine, 76, of Greene died surrounded by his family on Sunday, Oct. 2.

Robert was born June 13, 1940, in New Haven, Conn.

Bob spent a 20 year career in computers, finance and sales. One of his many accolades included being featured in the Who’s who magazine for Computer Management and Sales. At 40 years old, Bob traded it all to follow a family dream to own and run a dairy farm in Greene. Val-Greene Farm became a go-to-spot in the community for many years due to Bob’s guidance. In his retirement years, he was involved in many community service organizations, including the Elks, Greene Planning Board and CMMC Patient Advisory Committee. Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter, taking enjoyment in passing down his knowledge to grandchildren and great-grandchildren on how to enjoy the Maine outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margarete “Peggy” Valentine ; his three children and their spouses, Robert Valentine and wife, Mary, of Methuen, Mass., Richard Valentine and wife, Lynne, and Geri Valentine and husband, Stephen Nagy, of Greene. Bob also was survived by nine cherished grandchildren and 15 loved great-grandchildren.
