DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have art that I would like to sell. One piece is an original 19th century German watercolor. Is there a place in Maine that buys artwork? — No name, no town.

HI SUN SPOTS: I’m looking to see if anyone out there has any interest in purchasing a collection from the 1950’s Basic Library of the “World’s Greatest Music” albums 1-24. My great uncle collected the series. His wife collected dolls, if anyone has an interest in either please call (207) 782-0781. — Sandy, no town.

ANSWER: There are many antique and consignment stores in the area that may have interest.

Cabot Mill Antiques is located at 14 Maine St. in Brunswick. They are a multi-dealer shop, meaning they have antique dealers as members who buy from individuals. You can contact Cabot Mill Antiques and they can give you the contact information for a dealer who may have interest. Cabot Mill Antiques can be reached by calling (207) 725-2855, or email [email protected].

A great resource is maineantiques.org. You can visit this website and, from the top menu, choose Find A Dealer By Specialty. Click the appropriate category and you will get a list of Maine antique shops and dealers with their contact information.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My mother was the writer of “Dottie Dymples Corner” for Turner Publishing for more than 10 years. Her column was enjoyed by many in a wide circulation area. Her original writings of these articles have unfortunately been lost. I want to compile some of her writings and recipes into a cookbook for family members and friends for the holidays. Because of the loss of the originals, I am reaching out to your readers for copies of any of the columns they may have saved, any memories or stories surrounding her column, and of course any recipes they are willing to share with me. I can be reached by phone at (850) 450-2115 or at my email: [email protected]. Thank you from Dottie Dymples’ daughter. — Vikki D., no town.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Last week, Hurricane Matthew wreaked havoc upon the orphanage that Father Marc Boisvert, a native to this area, began in Haiti in 1998. This orphanage is now home to around 450 children, aged 9 months to 20 years. In addition, the schools educate over 1,000 non-resident students.

Twenty homes were damaged, roofs blown off, ruining bedding and clothing. The roofs to 15 other buildings, homes to many staff and families, were also blown away. The secondary school and library were completely destroyed. Their crops, which are their main source of food, were also destroyed. They are in urgent need of our help. People in this area have been very generous in the past, we are asking for your help once again. If you would like to make a donation, please donate online at freethekids.org or for more information you may call the Fortiers at (207) 795-6791. Your generosity would be greatly appreciated. — Pauline and Bernie Fortier, Lewiston.
