1978 – 2016
AUBURN — On Monday, Oct. 10, the Gates of Heaven opened and admitted James C. (Chucky) Higgins to join his mother and grandfathers. He passed away at the Hospice House with his loving family by his side.
Chuck was born on Dec. 26, 1978, at Ft. Gordon, Ga. He was the son of James N. and Melanie Parkin Higgins. He attended schools across the country, finally graduating from Oak Hill High School in Wales.
You could call him a five-sport competitor. Other than playing football for Oak Hill, he also drove a race car at Oxford Plains Raceway. There, they knew him as Spanky. Bowling was his second love. He rolled two 300 perfect games as a member of the Odd Couples League at Sparetime Recreation. He threw darts in the Central Maine Dart League and shot pool out of many clubs in the local area. He played years of softball for teams in Lewiston-Auburn, making many friends along the way.
He is survived by his father, Jim Higgins; brother, Buda; and sister, Mary, all of Lewiston; grandmother, Mildred Parkin of Wales; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He had a special relationship with his three nephews, Colin, Ryan and especially Devon.
He was predeceased by his mother and grandfathers.
Chuck was known for his gentle spirit and great sense of humor. A thank you goes out to his many uncles in the Red and Black world for their support.
