VFW yard sale in Jay

JAY — Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3335 will have a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at 64 Jewell St. 

Proceeds will go toward replacing the ramp at the post. 

Chinese, ticket auction Oct. 23

FARMINGTON — More than 100 items will be up for bid during a Chinese and ticket auction Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Fairbanks School, 508 Fairbanks Road/Route 4. 

Ticket sales will begin at 11:30 a.m., and the drawings will be at 1 p.m.

Cost is $1 for five tickets; those who purchase 25 will get five free.

Refreshments will be available.

Braestrup speaker at Mahoosuc meeting

BETHEL — Kate Braestrup will be the keynote speaker at the Mahoosuc Land Trust’s annual meeting at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, in Ordway Hall at Gould Academy.

Braestrup has served as chaplain to the Maine Warden Service since 2001.

A brief business meeting will precede her talk.

The event is free to members, and a $10 donation is requested by nonmembers. Nonmembers will have the opportunity to become members.

Light refreshments will be served.

Model train presentation at FHS

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Historical Society will meet Monday, Oct. 24, at North Church, 118 High St.

A potluck dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The meeting will follow.

The program will be Model Train Collection, with a display and discussion by Rob Martin.
