MONDAY, Oct. 17

AUBURN — City Council workshop and regular meeting in the City Council Chamber on the second floor Auburn Hall. The workshop begins at 5:30 p.m. and topics include a review of Mid-Maine Waste Action Corp.’s operation and several economic and community development efforts. The regular meeting begins at 7 p.m. and agenda topics include changes to the city’s agriculture zone, changing the zoning designation for a Pownal Road property and stormwater standards.

LEWISTON — School Committee regular meeting, 6:45 p.m. in Dingley Building. On agenda: discuss whether the committee should pursue a district charter school, review Farwell expansion, Armory program, consider buying 280 Bartlett St. property to meet National Park Service requirement.

TUESDAY, Oct. 18

LEWISTON — City Council workshop and regular meeting in the City Council Chamber on the bottom floor of City Hall. The workshop begins at 6 p.m. and the agenda includes three executive sessions to discuss property matters. The regular meeting follows at 7 p.m. and agenda topics include realigning lanes of Sabattus Street and creating a public sewer and leach field for 11 residents on No Name Pond.

Regular School Committee meeting at 7 p.m. On agenda: aspirations update by Jim Horn, discussion of schools as election polling sites, and new high school committee charge, Council Chamber of Auburn Hall.

THURSDAY, Oct. 20

LEWISTON — Great Falls Forum, noon at Lewiston Public Library’s Callahan Hall featuring Bates College philosophy professor David Cummiskey, who will explore the medical, ethical and existential dimensions of efforts to slow or halt the aging process.

AUBURN  — Grand opening and ribbon cutting of Great Falls Transportation Center at 3 p.m. in Great Falls Plaza.

FRIDAY, Oct. 21

AUBURN — Zany, Majestic Bard one-hour performance by David Greenham on Shakespeare, the history, how-to-read and understand and hear good jokes, 10 to 11 a.m., Auburn Public Library. Greenham teaches drama at the University of Maine-Augusta and was artistic director at the Theater at Monmouth.
