WEST PARIS — A West Paris man suffered minor injuries Wednesday morning when his sedan and a tractor-trailer collided on Route 26, Oxford County Deputy Joshua Daley said.
Kenneth Connell, 55, of West Paris was extricated from his car and taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway by Tri-Town Rescue, Daley said.
Connell was headed south at about 8 a.m. when a northbound New York-registered tractor-trailer swerved to avoid his car, Daley said.
“The front end of the truck was able to avoid the (Chevrolet) Impala, but the back tires of the trailer did make contact with Connell’s Impala,” Daley said. “Because of that, the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle.”
The truck driver, whose name was not immediately available, was not injured, Daley said.
“We’re not sure at this point what exactly caused the accident,” Daley said. “We just know that the truck swerved out of the Impala’s way, causing its back tires to swing around and strike the car.”
The accident remains under investigation.
Route 26 was closed for nearly an hour while the Sheriff’s Office, Paris Police Department, and fire departments from West Paris, Paris and Oxford cleared the scene.
