1927 – 2016

RUMFORD — Thelma Betty Dugas, 89, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Rumford Hospital surrounded by her family. She was a resident of Prospect Avenue in Rumford.

Born in Bethel on Oct. 4, 1927, she was a daughter of Wallace and Mabel (Godwin) Warren. She was a graduate of Gould Academy in Bethel. Earlier in her life, she had worked as a waitress for Freddie’s Restaurant in Rumford and then met the love of her life, Charles Francis Dugas, and became a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family.

Betty enjoyed cooking and loved being a homemaker. She enjoyed hosting family parties at her pool.

She married Charles Frank Dugas in Dixfield on Jan. 28, 1959. He died in Rumford on Aug. 27, 2013.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Freeman and husband, Gregg, of Peru, and Kelly Jo Dugas of Rumford; two sons, Thomas Dugas and his wife, Alice, of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., and David Dugas and his wife, Christine ,of Hopewell Junction, N.Y. She is also survived by many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Jerry Dugas and his wife, Joanne Dawson Dugas.
