1924 – 2016

AUBURN — Gerard J. Long, 92, a resident of Minot Ave., Auburn, formerly of Lewiston, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 22, at Clover Manor Health Care.

He was born in Fort Kent on July 16, 1924, the son of Joseph and Modeste (Gaudreau) Long.

Gerard served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Following the war, he worked for W.E. Cloutier, P&P Fuel, and later for Callahan Brothers until 1993.

He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, and he enjoyed the great outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.

Survivors include one daughter, Doris Williams of Utica, NY; four sons, Normand and wife, Dolly, of Lewiston, Brian and wife, Kathy, of Sabattus, James and wife, Jackie, of Turner, and John and wife, Kim, of Scarborough; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Long of Lewiston; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Geraldine Whitmore; and two sons, Robert and Joseph Daniel (Moose).
