1934 – 2016

LISBON — Leola M. Bannister, 82, of Lewiston passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the Lamp Nursing Home in Lisbon.

She was born in Lewiston on March 10, 1934, a daughter of the late Paul and Winifred (George) Pelletier. She grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1952.

After high school, Leola started working at Kresge’s on Lisbon Street until 1988. During that time, on May 20, 1967, she married Lucien J. Bannister in Lewiston. In 1988, when Kresge’s became Kmart, Leola continued to work there until her retirement in 1998.

Leola loved all kinds of arts and crafts. She was always busy creating and making unique handmade items for her family and friends. The family had a craft group that they enjoyed partaking in for 12 years together. Leola will always be remembered for having a joke, a laugh, a prank and a smile.

She is survived by her sister, Avis Crooker of Mystic, Conn.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 26 years, Lucien; three brothers, Ernest, Eugene and Reginald; and two sisters, Blanche and Harriet.
