FARMINGTON — The identity of the man killed in a fiery head-on collision in Strong this week has been identified as Rusty Knox, 35, of Temple Road in Wilton, according to Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr.
“Mr. Knox was married with four children,” Nichols said in an email.
Knox was driving Tuesday night on Lambert Hill Road when a truck driven by Mark Garner, 24, of Rangeley crossed the centerline and struck Knox’s truck. Both vehicles burst into flames, Nichols said previously.
Knox was trapped inside his pickup truck and died at the scene, according to Deputy Andrew Morgan’s affidavit filed with the court. His body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office for identification.
Garner and his two passengers were able to get out of Garner’s truck and were treated at a Farmington hospital.
Garner is charged with aggravated operating under the influence resulting in death. He was released from jail Thursday after posting $15,000 cash bail.
