LEWISTON — Special guests Carter and Kaity Newell will join local musicians to play for a family contra dance from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at St. Mary’s Nutrition Center, 208 Bates St.
The husband and wife team are both accomplished fiddlers from Damariscotta. Carter will also serve as dance caller, leading attendees of all ages in a variety of contras, squares and circle dances.
Noted Lewiston fiddler Greg Boardman will lead the band, a multi-aged ensemble composed of volunteer musicians from the area. The band will perform classic dance tunes such as “Bonnie Tammie,” “Swallowtail” and “Road to Boston.”
“Dancers, musicians and music lovers are all invited to participate as they like,” said Boardman, “whether it be on the dance floor or in the orchestra or just tapping their toes on the sidelines.”
Admission is by donation.
