1926 – 2016
STONEHAM, Mass. — Miriam Rose Moore, 90, a longtime resident of Stoneham, Mass., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2. She was the wife of 50 years to the late Terrence Olney Moore.
Born in Providence, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Alton Jeremiah and Catherine (Kiefer) Verrill. Miriam spent her early childhood in Andover and as a young girl moved with her family to Woodstock. She was a graduate of Woodstock High School, and was pleased to return to celebrate her 70th high school reunion there. Miriam attended Atlantic Union College and graduated from Boston State College. She earned her master’s degree at UMass Boston.
For many years, she was employed at the New England Memorial Hospital in Stoneham as the director of volunteer services. Miriam had been a resident of Stoneham since 1957. She was a devout member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She organized education and entertainment programs for the 60+ Club at the Stoneham Senior Center and she was a proud member of the Red Hat Society.
She was the mother of Ted Moore and his wife, Nancy Ellen, of Boxford, Mass., and Bruce Moore and his wife, Eliane, of Medford, Mass. She also leaves her granddaughter, Jodi Ann Smith and her husband, Dennis; and her great-grandchildren, Logan and Keira Rose Smith.
