LIVERMORE FALLS – Joseph W. Slaver Jr., “Joey,” 23, of Livermore Falls went to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 31, surrounded by his family, due to injuries sustained from being struck be a vehicle on Friday, Oct. 28.

Joey was born on Aug. 11, 1993, in Gloversville, N.Y., to the parents of Joseph W. Slaver Sr. of Stephentown, N.Y., and Charlene M. Slaver of Farmington. Joey grew up in Farmington and lived in Shanghai, China, and in New York as well. Joey was a “Peacemaker, caring and unselfish young man.” He spent many of his years volunteering at the Edgewood Nursing Home and the Warming Centers in Farmington.

Joey spoke a second language, Creole, played the viola for 10 years, and the guitar for three. He attended Mallett School through 3rd grade, and was then home schooled the remainder of his schooling years. Joey then went on to attend Word of Life Bible Institute in New York in 2011 to study Biblical Theology. Joey has worked for the State of New York and recently at Taconic Plastics in Petersburgh, N.Y., and most recently moved back to Livermore Falls.

Joey was very artistic and enjoyed writing, painting and photography as well as having an appreciation for all sorts of music including classical as well as classic rock, especially Lynard Skynard “Simple Man,” Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits and Steve Miller Band.

Joey is well known for his kind, compassionate, caring heart and as a young man who helped so many people; family, friends and even strangers. Joey was not a young man to judge anyone and would spend hours helping someone in need. Joey took part in helping with the Children’s Special Olympics, as well as talking someone through a rough night battling struggles of their own. Joey was a friend to so many and was always there for them. He looked forward to annual family reunions and get-togethers.
