DENMARK — Dolunay will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Denmark Arts Center.

Musicians Jenny Luna, Adam Good and Eylem Basaldi come together to create the ethereal yet gritty sound of Dolunay. The trio, borrowing its name from the Turkish word for full moon, plays within the soundscape of the ancient Ottomans, traces its migration through Balkan villages, coaxes it across seas and oceans, and grafts it onto a Brooklyn-based backdrop.

The band infuses classic and contemporary traditions with an urban grit that can only be found in New York City’s confluence of musical and cultural forces. Dolunay seamlessly melds not only diverse cultural and geographical influences, but the tones of their individual instruments, from oud to violin, percussion to tambura, and Jenny Luna’s exquisite voice.

Musicians Tev Stevig and Michael Harrist of Boston will open the show.

Tickets are a suggested donation of $15 and can be purchased at the door, online at www.denmarkarts.org, or by calling 207-452-2412.
