PARIS — Voters decided not to switch from their traditional annual town meeting to voting on warrant articles at the polls. The vote was 1,097 to 1,502.

Selectman Scott Buffington introduced the idea of changing it in order to get more people to participate.

The annual town meeting is traditionally held the third Saturday morning in June to discuss and vote on each warrant article. Some business owners previously said it’s hard for them to make the meeting because they’re open then.

A referendum-style meeting would have had voters going to the polls to decide each article by secret ballot. It would have been held the same day as the June election, which is traditionally the second Tuesday.
