AUBURN — Androscoggin Historical Society will sponsor an educational program with Lew Alessio titled “What in Tarnation IS That???” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, on the third floor of the Androscoggin County Courthouse, at the corner of Turner and Court streets.

Attendees should enter the building on the Court Street side. An elevator is available.

In this presentation, Alessio will present an evening of guessing the widgets, thingamajigs and whatchamacallits in everyday life generations ago.

Alessio is a local collector of ephemera and the tools that reflect the ingenuity of New England inventors. Born and raised in New York City, Alessio is the founder of the Maine Acting Company. He has an antiques business that creates greeting cards using vintage images. He has lived in Greene for 44 years.

Admission to this program is free, but donations will be accepted.
