1. Bonny Eagle (9-0) (1)
A week off didn’t slow the Scots down, and now they get a seemingly easier Scarborough opponent in the regional final than the Thornton Academy team they thought they would be facing. But the Red Storm already pulled off one upset, and could have another up their sleeves.
2. Portland (8-1) (3)
The Bulldogs dispatched a confident Oxford Hills/Buckfield team in its playoff opener last week. Portland has as much confidence as any team right now, and will look to hold off regional rival Windham.
3. Brunswick (9-0) (4)
No team has dominated a conference like the Dragons in Class B North. Nobody has been within three scores of Brunswick, and that includes Brewer, who gets another crack at the Dragons.
4. Kennebunk (10-0) (6)
The rankings underestimate the Rams, the Rams respond. So in response to them ending Marshwood’s regional reign, the rankings will once again make Kennebunk the king of Class B South.
5. Biddeford (9-1) (5)
The Tigers didn’t let Greely upset them the way the Rangers upset Falmouth in the first round. But the Tigers are still likely upset about losing to Kennebunk in the regular season. Revenge in the regional final?
6. Scarborough (8-2) (10)
The Red Storm could probably be higher in the rankings after upsetting Thornton Academy, but the teams ahead of them have been so good all season long.
7. Thornton Academy (8-1) (2)
The Golden Trojans’ season is over, as is a quest for three straight state titles. But for their entire body of work this season, they have a set spot on this list.
8. Cape Elizabeth (10-0) (7)
The Capers might be the best team in Class C (they are the only undefeated team left), but it’s hard to justify putting Scarborough and Thornton below them.
9. Brewer (8-1) (8)
The Witches have a tall task of trying to knock off Brunswick this week. Even still, they’ve been one of the better teams in the state, regardless of class.
10. Wells (9-1) (9)
The Warriors haven’t left the rankings this season. They were expected to get to the regional final. Now can they seal the deal and get to the state final?
