SHAPLEIGH (AP) — A Maine man has been indicted on a manslaughter charge after authorities say he was operating a boat that ran over and killed his twin brother who had fallen overboard.
The Portland Press Herald reported (http://bit.ly/2g2kYyU ) the York County grand jury indictments released Wednesday also charged 31-year-old Jonathan Beattie, of Sanford, with reckless conduct with a weapon and two counts of operating under the influence.
Authorities say Jeff Beattie was riding in the bow of a 17-foot motorboat on Mousam Lake in Shapleigh when he fell overboard in May. They say Jonathan was piloting the boat.
State wardens say Jeff Beattie was pulled back into the boat and flown to Maine Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
It wasn’t immediately known if Jonathan Beattie has an attorney.
