This dinner is free to all veterans and their families as a small token of the troop’s appreciation for their great sacrifice.

WEST PARIS — The First Universalist Church of West Paris will hold its annual chicken pie supper on Thursday, Nov. 17, at the church on Main Street.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and the first seating will be at 5:30 p.m.
The drawing for the table runner, gel print, and lap quilt will be held at the end of the first seating.
Cost is $10 for adults, and $5 for children ages 5 to 12.

WATERFORD — The next Waterford Community Supper will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Wilkins Community House on Plummer Hill Road.
Hosts for this supper will be the Longs and Lois Grigg.
The potluck suppers are open to anyone in Waterford and neighboring communities. Those attending should bring a favorite dish to share; bread and beverages will be provided.

RUMFORD — The Beacon House Social Club will have a 25th anniversary dinner with a New England boiled supper for its members and the public at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at 3 Canal St., in the Muskie building.
There will be a Chinese auction, and several auctions including items, such as a lap quilt, $150 in cash and a laptop computer. Laura Krech will host karaoke.
Reservations are required by Thursday, Nov. 17.

AUBURN — A spaghetti benefit supper will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Edward Little High School to help offset expenses incurred by Larry Gordon in his fight against cancer.
Gordon is a longtime ELHS teacher who is currently the eighth-grade baseball coach at Auburn Middle School and former varsity hockey coach at ELHS. He is also past president of Auburn Suburban Little League, a member of the EL Grandstand Club, who most recently was seen flipping burgers at ELHS football games, former youth hockey board member, and is very involved in community events such as Relay for Life.
His cancer fight is new and entails frequent travels to Boston for ongoing care.
The supper will be held at the ELHS cafeteria from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door or may be purchased in advance at the high school’s main office.
Cost: $8 for adults; $5 for children younger than 12; free for children younger than 5; $20 for a family of four.

Proceeds will help Fred and Sandy Washer’s costs associated with traveling to Pennsylvania for Fred’s treatment for pancreatic cancer.
