BRIDGTON — Bridgton Hospital, 10 Hospital Drive, will offer “Managing Diabetes: The Next Step,” a free, one-hour educational program designed to inform and educate attendees about the use of insulin in diabetes management. The presentation will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17.

Guest speaker Ruth Braun has diabetes and takes insulin as part of her overall diabetes treatment plan that includes diet, exercise and other diabetes medications. She is a specially trained member of the A1C Champions Program. Through this program she shares her personal diabetes story, provides support and gives practical advice to help motivate others in making healthy lifestyle choices and in reaching their blood sugar goals.

During the presentation, Braun will discuss why insulin is not a sign of failure but may help users achieve blood sugar control as part of their overall diabetes plan. She will also share concerns she had about starting insulin and misconceptions about insulin.
