LEWISTON — Our brother,
, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 10 days before his 85th birthday, at Marshwood Nursing Home in Lewiston.
He was born in Lewiston on Nov. 18, 1931. He was the son of the late Romeo J. Poliquin and Anna (Leber) Poliquin. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1950. James married the love of his life, Louise (Gagnon) on Feb. 4, 1956, at St. Rose de Lima Church in Chisholm.
Before he went to work for a living, he served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954 as a member of 508 Airborne Regimental Combat Team attached to the 82nd Airborne Division. He spent time at Fort Benning, Georgia, and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He worked various jobs, and worked 38 years as a head maintenance man at the Holiday Inn in Auburn.
He was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Family Church in Lewiston. In his down time, he enjoyed hiking sections of the Appalachian Trail. He had a particular interest in bird life, plant life, reading books and completing crossword puzzles. He gathered a wealth of knowledge over his many years.
James Joseph leaves his sister, Dorothy, of Lewiston; his brother Richard and his wife, Collette, of Bath; his brother Roger and his wife, Mila, of Lewiston; his brother Albert and his wife, Pamela, of Brewer; his brother Maurice of Auburn; his brother George of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Louise; his brother, Charles; and an infant brother, Henry Paul.
