LIVERMORE FALLS — Fleur-De-Lis Embroidery and Designs, a new sewing and consignment shop, has opened at 16 Main St. An open house will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19.

There will be door prizes and special pricing on items in stock. Berry Fruit Farm of Livermore will provide some of the refreshments.

Owner Josee Castonguay said she got interested in machine embroidery when she and her husband attended a military vehicle convention and couldn’t find any souvenirs for children or women.

“I hate boxy T-shirts,” she said. “I got the idea to make some things and take them to military conventions.”

For the past four years she operated her business, JeepGirl Designs, from her home. Castonguay said she wanted her new endeavor to reflect her French Canadian heritage, so she changed the name to Fleur-De-Lis.

Fleur-de-lis is a stylized lily. In French, fleur means “flower” and lis means lily.

In addition to the custom machine embroidery, Fleur-De-Lis offers jewelry made by members of Castonguay’s family, plus artwork, signs and other home decor items consigned by local crafters.

“I’m hoping to get more contracts and add to what I have,” she said.

Information about the company can be found on the web at http://tinyurl.com/jr5282s.

It lists hats, consignment clothing, baby and dog apparel, curtains, tablecloths, linens, and team jerseys and jackets as items Castonguay can embroider.

She has many patterns on hand and can search the internet for others. She can also patch up beloved items of clothing. Fleur-De-Lis also does printing. Castonguay can create labels, tags and decals.

The shop is open Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Castonguay said she may add longer hours during the holiday shopping season.
