FCAS holding rabies clinic
JAY — Franklin County Animal Shelter hold a rabies clinic for dogs and cats from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Jay Town Office.
Rabies vaccines will be $10 and distemper vaccines will be $15. Additionally, flea and tick treatments and microchipping will be offered for $10 each per pet.
Rabies shots are good for one year or three years for those who provide documentation that their pets are current on their previous rabies vaccination.

Scouts to Fill the Van
RUMFORD — Area Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will Fill the Van with non-perishable food items for two local food pantries.
Two vans will be filled, one for the GRAMPS Food Pantry at the Mexico Congregational Church, UCC (the “Green Church”), and another for the Servant’s Food Pantry at the Peru Community Center.
Donations maybe dropped off between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Rumford American Legion. This will coincide with the Scouts’ free Thanksgiving supper being served from noon to 2 p.m.

Ski craftsmanship at Historical Society
BETHEL — The Ski Museum of Maine will present a free Fireside Chat that tells the story of Maine’s long history of manufacturing ski equipment, the demise of the industry in the late 20th century, and its current renaissance in this century.
“Made in Maine: 100-Plus Years of Craftsmanship in Skiing” will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at the Bethel Historical Society’s Mason House.
The presentation will feature more than 80 old photos, plus two contrasting 12-minute videos. The first video will show ski fabrication at Paris Manufacturing Co. in the early 1930s, while the second depicts current ski-making operations of YOPP Clandestine Skis in Bethel.
The free program is open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
Throughout the day, the New England Ski Museum’s Skiing in the Pine Tree State exhibition will be on view from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Robinson House next door. This exhibit has a display rack of old and new Maine-manufactured skis.
