FARMINGTON — A local man pleaded guilty Monday to selling heroin in January.
The state dismissed a count of criminal conspiracy against Anthony Gage Jr., 27, of Farmington in a plea agreement.
Assistant Attorney General David Fisher said if the case had gone to trial, Farmington Detective Darin Gilbert would have testified that in a vehicle rollover on Jan. 6 the driver said he was under the influence of heroin.
The driver agreed to set up a buy of about $80 worth of heroin with his supplier, Fisher said. When delivery was made, Gage’s older brother, Jacob Gage, 30, of Farmington, showed up, Fisher said. Jacob Gage was arrested on a Class B charge of trafficking in heroin.
Farmington police executed a search warrant at Anthony Gage’s residence and he was arrested on a Class B charge of trafficking in heroin.
The heroin transaction was a “street level buy” and was less than $100, Farmington Police Chief Peck said in a news release at the time.
There is no risk of flight, Fisher said. Anthony Gage is taking positive steps in counseling and is doing very well, Fisher said.
A sentencing hearing will be held Dec. 2. The sentence recommendation is five years with all but one year suspended. One year is the cap, Fisher said.
Defense attorney Thomas J. Carey will be allowed to argue for less.
Jacob Gage’s case has not been resolved.
