NORWAY — Herbert “Herb/Herbie” Hodges, son of Dorothy and William Hodges, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, following a long illness.

A lifelong resident of Norway and Oxford, he graduated from Norway High in 1957, served in the U.S. Air Force and married Wilma Bradley (deceased) in 1961.

He is survived by his three loving daughters, Kathy Farrar Buck (Sherwin), Lisa Strother (Fred) and Melissa Hodges; cherished grandchildren, Justin, Jeremy and Alex Farrar, Seth, Elizabeth (Curran) Candage, Robert and Hal Strother; 10 great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Austen Farrar, Kailee, Kirsten, Jeremy and Daisey Farrar, Lilliann and Autumn Farrar, and Beverly Strother and Nixon Candage; sister, Shirley Hodges of Lewiston; and brother, Robert Hodges of Alamo, Calif.

Herb was a lifetime employee of CB Cummings until his retirement. He enjoyed raising and racing homing pigeons like his father, William, and won many races and trophies. Herb coached Little League baseball, was a volunteer with the Norway Fire Department and enjoyed all sports, but especially the Red Sox and New England Patriots.

A familiar friendly face in the local community, he was always willing to give a helping hand and was often found at Ed’s Barber Shop sharing stories and memories with his many friends.
