MINOT — The Minot Historical Society honored veterans at the Minot Town Office Veterans Monument on Nov. 11. About 30 people attended, including several veterans.
The veterans and guests were greeted by Society president Hester Gilpatric. The opening prayer was offered by the Rev. Frances Lodge of the West Minot Church. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Eda Trip gave a brief history of the Star Spangled Banner and read the poem. Retired veteran Joe Staples laid the wreath before the monument.
A thank-you card and gift was given to each veteran.
The closing prayer was offered by the Rev. Cheryl Decker of the Minot Corner Church. A time of sharing and appreciation followed in the Town Office conference room.
The Society meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the Minot Town Office. All are welcome to join.
