LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will offer a new six-week Introduction to Archery program for girls and boys ages 8 to 17. Program participants will learn proper form and the basic skills that will get students safely shooting.

The health benefits of archery includes increasing balance and coordination and building upper body strength. Archery is also known to improve focus and concentration, self-confidence and teaches the benefits of patience.

All equipment will be provided. Classes will be taught by Instructor Simeon Gray of the Back to Creation Outdoor School. Gray holds a Level 1 certification through USA Archery and is also certified by the National 4-H Shooting Sports Program.

Classes will be held Tuesdays, Nov. 29 to Jan. 3. The program will be divided into two age divisions, 6 to 7 p.m. for 8- to 12-year-olds and and from 7 to 8 p.m. for 13- to 17-year-olds.

The cost of the program is $90 per person. Space is limited.
