NEWRY — Selectmen decided Tuesday to hold off spending an estimated $2,500 to $3,500 to upgrade the town website, as it develops a budget for Jan. 1 to June 30, 2017.

Upgrades would include new access for staff to modify the website, rather than relying on a web designer and paying an hourly fee.

Selectmen approved buying a new printer needed for new forms for motor vehicle registrations. The estimated cost is $750 to $1,000.

The board decided to put money into an account to pay the cost of children using Bethel Recreation programs.

The Planning Board requested the town update its tax property mapping system, and Town Administrator Amy Bernard said they are doing some research to find out the costs. She said the upgrade likely will not take place until July, when the website will potentially be upgraded.

Selectmen also discussed the recent vote to not disband Oxford County Regional Recycling. Bernard said there is the possibility of a misunderstanding regarding the vote: Residents may have thought doing away with the program meant no more recycling, but that is not the case.

Selectmen plan to hold an informational meeting for residents in the spring, possibly followed by another vote to potentially disband.
